Willy Maywald

Willy Maywald may have been born in Germany but from the moment he arrived in Paris he knew it had to be his home. Maywald was utterly addicted to the city. His specialities were fashion and portraits. He documented and publicised the post-war fashion renaissance, and photographed artists in their habitat; their studios. In 2007 there was a major retrospective of his work at the Musée Carnavalet in Paris.
