Robert Doisneau’s philosophy shines from each of his images of post-war France: “I don’t want to make photographs that say to people: ‘Look at what wretches you are, look at how ugly your life is.’ On the contrary, I try to slip in softly, ‘Look at that which I have seen. You have passed near it today, but look for yourselves and tomorrow you will find things around you that will make you laugh or move you.’"
