Erich Andres
Andres speciality was the ordinary; before the War he took pictures of people coping with everyday life. Wartime service brought propaganda photographs intended to show the suffering of Germans inflicted by the Allies, but as defeat loomed that suffering became an embarrassment for the Nazis. Andres continued to photograph it but hid his photos till after the war. Afterwards Andres returned to photographing the ordinary in Hamburg.
