Fauna is another side to Italian photographer Antonio Gesmundos work The dense, refined and sophisticated flower portraits give way to the wide open spaces of Africa and images of animals in their own domain. Antonios photographs show them at ease in the their world masters of the open plains. This is a prelapsarian Eden in black and white photography. While the characters of the animals shine through, Gesmundo doesnt seek to impose human values on them he sees them for what they are in their own space. These photographs have never before been shown outside Italy. There is a book to accompany the exhibition Inside Africa, published by Formagrafica Edizioni.
